Once upon a time there was a Mom who had two small children. The family had a big, big old Chinese medicine chest with 91 drawers.
– What an excellent place for a Christmas calendar, Mom thought and decided to get on with it immediately. She used some of the old cards they had made together to be used as the tags. The years went by. Now the kids are teenagers, but they still love to have the calendar year after year. It is a bit more challenging for Mom to think of small gifts as she cannot buy dollhouse furniture or lego pieces anymore and give one item per day…But anyways, it is great how some small ideas become family traditions. Merry Little Xmas to everyone, like we say in Finnish.
Olipa kerran äiti, jolla oli kaksi pientä lasta. Perheellä oli iso, iso kiinalainen lääkekaappi, jossa oli 91 laatikkoa.
– Loistava paikka joulukalenterille, sanoi äiti ja ryhtyi tuumasta toimeen. Numerolappuina hän käytti heidän yhdessä askartelemiaan kortteja. Vuodet vierivät. Nyt lapset ovat teinejä, mutta edelleen kalenteri kuuluu asiaan. Nykyään äidillä on vähän haastavampaa miettiä pieniä lahjoja, nukkekodin astiat ja huonekalut tai legopalat eivät enää toimi. Hienoa silti miten pienistä ideoista syntyy perheen omia traditioita. Hyvää pikkujoulua kaikille!
